Crime rate falls seven percent in first half of year
FBI data show the national crime rate down 7 percent from the prior year across cities suburbs and rural areas. Murders and robberies declined while assaults rose, and Houston bucked the trend with a large uptick. Detroit New York Philadelphia Los Angeles Chicago and Boston all posted lower totals.
