Judge Suspends Panther Terms

The last two Black Panthers charged in the Rackley slaying received suspended sentences in Superior Court New Haven Conn. Landon Williams 27 and Rory Hithe 20 both of Oakland Calif pleaded guilty Oct 26 to conspiracy to murder They were accused of taking part as national Panther emissaries in a plot involving 14 persons including Bobby Seale in May 1969 They were arrested in Denver shortly after Rackley's body was found.

Regents May Retain All Cameron Studies

Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education say Cameron College will keep its nursing and other two year associate degree programs. Cameron officials will meet with the regents at 11 15 a m Monday at Northeastern State College Tahlequah to discuss continuing all associate degree offerings.

Fire destroys Durant Rowlett Motors and seven cars

Downtown Durant saw a blaze tear through Rowlett Motors causing about 150000 dollars in damage. The Durant Fire Department brought the fire under control after destroying the dealership and seven automobiles and threatening a neighboring agency.

Arson Wave Hits OU Campus Injures 27. Evacuations Go On

Norman Oklahoma campus police investigated a string of arson and vandalism at Oklahoma University early Thursday. Four fires and related damage prompted 700 people to evacuate from Walker Tower and nearby buildings. Six hospitalized with one needing arm surgery as officials warned against linking the incidents to campus tensions.

Rites Held For Former Governor Edmondson

Last rites for former Gov and U S Sen J Howard Edmondson were held in Oklahoma City with Lyndon Johnson Gov David Hall and more than 600 attendees. Edmondson died at 46. burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. He had been Oklahoma’s youngest governor and later a U S senator after resigning near term’s end.

LURA Approves Million Revision To Civic Center
