Tokyo soldiers flood wartime post exchange sale

In Tokyo a two day buy spree at the Army post exchange drew thousands of soldiers who spent nearly 100000 on kimonos and handicrafts. Capt. Ward and a small staff redecorated the Hat tori building to resemble a Tokyo department store as troops surged in to purchase gifts and souvenirs. The sale overwhelmed registers and forced brief door closings as generals and privates alike elbowed for wares.
