Memorial Day Observed With Ceremonies At Fort Sill
Lawton Fort Sill area marked Memorial Day with four ceremonies led by Post Commander Maj. Gen. David E. Ott. He noted origins may trace to Confederate women placing flowers on Civil War graves. Ott urged remembrance of those who sacrificed for country as long as two survive. Ceremonies included a 10 a.m. service at Fort Sill Post Cemetery and an 11:40 a.m. ceremony at McNair Hall with a 21 gun salute by Salute Battery. Additional observances occurred at two city cemeteries at 10:30 a.m. See page 2 for HONORED.
