Fertilizer shortage grips Midwest farmers across Kansas
Kansas City AP reports widespread fertilizer shortages as Johnson Hardware and Grain Co and four country elevators run dry. Farmers face delays in ammonia and phosphate supplies, with experts warning of potential 60 percent corn yield losses and higher future prices while suppliers scramble to meet demand. Farmers are urged to plant now and maximize side dressing later, as industry leaders contend with weather, freight car constraints, and gas diversion.
