Federal agency says 1974 no worse than 1973 for violent crime
The Law Enforcement Assistance Administration reports after surveying 130000 people that 1974 did not show a significant rise in violent crime compared with 1973. The overall rate rose 7.5 percent due to increases in sneak theft and commercial burglaries, with big businesses most affected. The FBI also noted higher crime across seven categories, but methods differ from LEAA.
