Solons Eye Oklahoma Flood Damage Survey
U S Corps of Engineers estimated Oklahoma flood damage at 14.1 million dollars with preliminary figures suggesting that proposed Lacquarte projects could cut losses nearly in half. Tulsa district engineer Col. John Bristol warned figures are preliminary and subject to revision as data improve. Senators Monroney and Robertson pressed for faster flood control and emergency funding, citing potential 6.7 billion in prevented damages. Members of Congress planned fact-finding trips to evaluate existing programs and possible accelerations of flood control measures.
