Lawton educators seek session with judge over teacher's assault case
A six member committee of the Professional Educators Association of Lawton heard testimony from Mrs. Joan Shutts and student Abe Deutschendorf about an April 7 incident at Howser Junior High School. The 14 year old struck the teacher when she tried to take him to the office after profanity. The youth's attorney claimed it was an accident but Mrs. Shutts testified it was intentional. The committee noted medical costs of 28.60 and discussed potential judicial impact on school discipline. Final judgment by Judge Chad Bledsoe is set for June 2.
