Retired General Hershey Dies at 83 in Angola Indiana
Gen. Lewis Blaine Hershey who directed the draft of 14.5 million Americans in three wars died in his sleep in Angola Indiana at age 83. He planned to attend Tri State University graduation events and his funeral plans include Arlington National Cemetery and Bethesda Maryland. The former head of Selective Service suffered a cerebellar hemorrhage in February and had been hospitalized at Walter Reed Army Hospital before passing.
