Industrial production jumped in April by a full percentage point with gains across most sectors. The March rise was 0.6 percent. The deficit in the balance of payments widened to 10.2 billion dollars in Q1, one of the largest quarterly deficits in history.
Glenn P. Ward of Cordell, son of Mrs. W. D. Ward, was named president of the Oklahoma Bankers Association. He serves as senior vice president of the Fourth National Bank and Trust Co. of Tulsa and is a 1938 Oklahoma State University graduate who taught agriculture in Duke, Frederick, and Altus.
