Islanders Magic Stuns Flyers In Game Seven Thriller
Denis Potvin and Gerry Hart led a rally as the New York Islanders beat the Philadelphia Flyers 2 to 1 in a decisive game seven. Hart’s 45 foot wrist shot late in the third period sealed the win, pushing New York toward the Stanley Cup finals with a potential series clincher in Philadelphia. The Flyers, stunned, faced the heartbreak of elimination after a dominant four game sweep into the quarter finals and a strong early lead.

Porter Lights Up Celtics as Bullets Clinch Series
Kevin Porter led Washington with 21 points and 11 assists in a 98-92 win over Boston, sealing the Bullets Eastern Conference title four games to two. Porter scored 13 of his 21 in the final quarter while teammate Elvin Hayes praised his leadership. Boston fought back with a third quarter rally led by Dave Cowens and Jo Jo White but Portland’s defense and cold Celtics shooting doomed their title repeat bid. The Bullets advance to face Golden State or Chicago in the NBA Finals.

Warriors' Vacation May Have To Wait
CHICAGO AP It looks like Coach Al Attles and the Golden State Warriors may not get a break after all. The Warriors stunned the Chicago Bulls 86 72 to force a seventh game in the NBA Western Conference final in Oakland. Rick Barry sparked the rally with 20 points in the third quarter and led both teams with seven steals eight rebounds and eight assists as Golden State outrebounded Chicago 51 39 and forced many Bulls turnovers. Barry said the Bulls had to play Warrior basketball and their defense and rebounding turned the tide in the series.
