Carol Roberts aged 18 pleaded guilty to three counts of prostitution under Lawton's new ordinance. She received five days in jail with 25 days suspended and a total $22.50 in court costs. The ordinance, approved by the City Council, targets aggressive street solicitation.
A list of theft and property crime complaints reported to the Lowton Police Department. Entries include Pampiin Truck Salvage reporting a stolen license tag from a truck at the business, plus multiple residents and a store reporting thefts of TVs rings gas gear and other items. Authorities document thefts from homes vehicles stores and offices with varied locations and names.
Great Plains Area Vo-Tech School adds sessions this summer. Automotive trouble shooting runs May 9 to June 15 from 645 to 945 pm on Mon and Wed. Cashier-checker training May 31 to June 15 845 am to 3 pm five days a week. Clerical procedures offered June 1-28 from 130 to 430 pm daily. Air Conditioning I maintenance offered June 1-28 and VA approved.
An 18 year old Lawton youth was certified as an adult and pled guilty to robbery by force and fear. He received a two year sentence with deferment under supervision. Garner Earp of 5720 NW Glenn was arrested March 30 for a $3,000 robbery from Charles Patterson. the money was recovered.
Red Cross in Comanche County schedules five swim levels at Fort Sill pools for 11 to 17 year olds and older. Courses run June and May with multiple two to ten day sessions and prerequisites including basic rescue, lifesaving, and swimmer tests. Contact the Red Cross Chapter House to enroll.
Tony Kim Welty 23 pleaded in nocent to first degree murder and two counts of shooting with intent to kill before Dist. Judge William Roberts. Bond set at 50 000 on the shooting charges. He is charged in the beating death of wife Linda 22 and shooting sisters Kathy Sproat 20 and Sheila Sproat 13. Trials set for September term. Welty already has a 12 year sentence from a prior shooting case in Oklahoma City.
