Food Price Rise Seen If Grain Exports Grow To Russia
Agriculture Secretary Earl Butz says U.S. grain exports could boost consumer prices, with a congressional study noting a 10 million ton export increase might lift food prices by about 1 percent within a year. Russia has already bought 16.2 million tons this season, and total 1975-76 exports are projected near 80 million tons. Farmers could gain via higher incomes while livestock producers may see their incomes fall.
