Officers and committee chairs of the Andrew Jackson Parent-Teacher Association held an executive board session at 9 39 a m in the teachers lounge with President Marvin Beall presiding. They discussed plans for the annual spring round-up in April and noted a gold certificate award for 10 PTA magazine subscriptions sold in March.
Guests gathered Wednesday at the southeast city home of Mrs. Frank Cahelka for a surprise birthday party. Courtesies included cake and ice cream with several attendees named among the guests and children present.
Rhubarb, a spring fruit, now used widely beyond pies. A tested recipe for a full size upside down cake with rhubarb layers, sugar, butter, vanilla, and whole bran cereal, baked 330 degrees for about 50 minutes then inverted to serve with whipped cream.
Mrs Lenora Clark hosted an Epsilon Sigma Alpha Zeta Era chapter educational meeting at her home No 2 South Third with Miss Margorie Welch leading a round table on Charm and Personality after a lesson on making house shoes Croft wash cloths given by Mrs Lee Roy Lewis Refreshments were served and members present included Mesdames Bianca Bonnell Banifield Carel Gaskins Keathley Stham Sehatl.
First Presbyterian Women's Association held study circle sessions on sickness and health at homes and the church. Circle IT served lunch, devotionals led by Mrs. Fannie E. Boggs, and a business period chaired by Alva Clayton Valder with co hosts. Eighteen members attended. Circle TIT gathered at 7 30 p m at Mrs. Greer's home with devotional by Mrs. E L Rains and teaching by Mrs. John Merchant. Refreshments followed for fourteen. Circle IV met at 1 p m in Mrs. Howard Kemper's home at 717 North 36th.
Members of the Telephone Wives auxiliary recall their annual rummage sale led by president Mrs. O. Z. Hackler. The sale runs from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday at the corner of Third and F Street to raise funds for all charity activities throughout the year.
Don Lacy son of Mr and Mrs E B Lacy of 8044 N 1th has been elected vice president of the Oklahoma State club at Kemper Military School Boonville Missouri He studies there with about 20 states and several foreign countries represented at the Kemper State clubs which hold many social functions during the school year.
Swinney Parent Teacher Association executive board met at 10 a.m. in the Teachers Lounge to plan upcoming activities. Highlights included a summer round-up April 23 at 1 p.m. chaired by Mrs. Robert Dennis and an April 11 study group meeting chaired by Mrs. Carter.
