Sulphur Queen Disappearance Still A Mystery Of The Seas
A 1963 report chronicles the last sighting of the SS Sulphur Queen off Florida after leaving Beaumont Texas with 39 crew on board. Capt James Fanning directed a five day voyage to Norfolk before radio silence and possible sinking near Dry Tortugas. Widespread speculation followed including a passenger’s claim of a Cuban capture and Russian captivity.
