Lawton nurse drives tribal health and disaster response

Lt. Jeri Weatherly of the Indian Health Service Hospital in Lawton is a medical technologist in the U S Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. She diagnoses diabetes and obesity, promotes children's health, works nights and weekends, and may be deployed within 12 to 72 hours for disasters, serving Native American communities.

Prison in Hinton to close next month

A private prison in Hinton known as Great Plains Correctional Facility will close in early April. Once housing about 800 inmates and employing 190 people, the facility will end operations as 290 state inmates remain, with moves planned by April 6.
