Report urges scaling down Lawton water needs plan

A short term water study by Skip Gibson urges revising a proposed 24.4 million dollar program. Jim Sauer presented March 7 to Lawton City Council, proposing a Citizens Advisory Water Resources Committee and a water resources coordinator. The plan weighs rebuilding the existing facilities versus a new 10.2 million to 10.2 figure for a supplemental East Lawton plant and outlines phased reviews of priorities and potential summer watering restrictions. The Engineers Horacek Smith Painter Spitz submitted the August 1977 study, which also calls for immediate preliminary engineering on most work.
