Deputy Sheriff Richard West said thieves ransacked the Littrells south of Lawton, taking over eight thousand dollars in valuables including two rifles, a pistol, two shotguns, a CB radio, a color TV, and jewelry. The burglary occurred between 11 a.m. and 3 45 p.m. Wednesday.
Lawton Urban Renewal Authority votes to pursue a district court jury trial appealing a 238500 condemnation award for the old 1.0 C F property at 109 D. The award exceeds LURA's highest appraisal by 141500. The Odd Fellows building and land are key to downtown mall and parking plans. Two 18 year old men arrested Thursday as suspects in forging 1400 in checks on a Fort Sillman account were held in the city jail. Forged drafts bought stereo equipment a TV shoes and records from Audio Tech Hawkins TV Montgomery Wards Steve's Shoes and Abraxas Records. One suspect’s Lawton home yielded recovered equipment. A Fort Sillman admitted forging and passing several checks at various Lawton stores. A third suspect questioned over related forgeries of three checks for 86 dollars is also being investigated.
