Defense Dept studies feasibility of killer satellite system
The Defense Department will study whether a satellite interceptor system can detect, pursue, and destroy hostile space vehicles. The Air Force issued proposals to industry on May 26, with at least three companies expected to perform competitive studies. If pursued, a space destroyer could be built and tested in 1975 or 1976, with potential deployment later.
