Tax cuts move toward approval and extensions

Congress faces a Senate House conference to resolve differences in tax revision bills with weeks likely. Acknowledging a minimal immediate tax bite, leaders froze withholding rates and extended credits. Key provisions include a $35 credit per taxpayer and dependent through 1977, higher standard deductions, a work bonus for families, and a 10 percent earned income credit up to $4,000. Controversy centers on extension length. without renewal, a four member family on $15,000 would face $180 more tax.
