Carter energy tax plan praised as panel backs changes
The White House says it is quite pleased with the House Ways and Means Committee action on the energy tax plan though energy saving goals were cut by 40 percent. The panel estimates show about 2.8 million barrels of oil saved daily by 1985 versus the 4.7 million in the president’s plan.
