County tax for city streets called dead issue in Lawton
Two of three Comanche County commissioners rejected a plan to allocate 500000 in motor fuels taxes to Lawton central district for street improvements. The debate centered on revenue distribution across districts and legality of a swap to a 175 percent sales tax in unincorporated areas, with mixed support from commissioners.

Battle over Oklahoma water sale fuels regional tensions
Oklahoma lawmakers and residents in Little Dixie clash with Texas over proposals by Tarrant Regional Water District to divert unused water from the Red River watershed. TRWD seeks to acquire hundreds of thousands of acre feet annually, arguing Oklahoma’s water is underutilized, while opponents call water a lifeblood and warn of irreversible regional impacts, including on industry, wildlife, and downstream states. The dispute spans legal moratoriums, interstate commerce challenges, and potential effects on Lake Texoma and local paper mills in Arkansas and Louisiana.
