Mild Days Bring Warm Spell For Southwest Oklahoma

Southwest Oklahomans face the warmest spell in nearly three weeks with forecast highs in the lower 50s through Thursday and tonight's low near 20s. If reached, the 50s will mark the first time since January 7 readings topped 50. Evidence of last week's storm remains on streets and lakes as Lake Lawtonka and Lake Ellsworth near freezing, a rare condition since 1900.

Ford seeks end to gas price controls before leaving office

President Ford proposed lifting gasoline price controls in a last minute move, facing congressional opposition with 15 days to veto. Inflation Rate Hits Four-Year Low in 1976

Washington AP reports December prices rose 0.4 percent, lifting 1976 inflation to 4.8 percent the smallest in four years. The rate surpassed Ford administration goals for 5 to 6 percent and follows earlier wage-price controls that kept 1972 inflation at 3.4 percent.
