Guided Missiles Powered By Jets Resemble Planes
The first intercontinental guided missile will likely be jet propelled and resemble an airplane, traveling under the speed of sound. Supersonic over-ocean missiles are in progress, with officials noting a five-year development cycle from drawing board to proving tests. Retiring Air Secretary Finletter hinted trans-ocean missiles may be available fairly soon, though others doubt tomorrow morning delivery.
