County Receives $271 372 Check From Tax Commission
Comanche county treasurer Miss Lillian Waid announced a 271,372 dollar payment from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. The sum covers county auto taxes license fees and gas taxes for January with schools receiving the largest share 186,383. Abductor Battered In Prairie Battle
A Colorado abductor was captured and his kidnapping victim Nancy Jackson freed unharmed after a 150 minute ordeal on a Pueblo prairie. The 28 year old hail of gunfire wounded abductee husband Robert Jackson and the would be kidnapper Eugene C Hurst. Rescuers led by Police Captain Robert Mayber and auto dealer Tony Fortino tackled Hurst as he held Nancy at gun point. Fortino beat Hurst unconscious, the weapon shattered in the struggle.

Firms Change Night Hours To Thursdays In Lawton
Lawton merchants meeting at the Chamber of Commerce voted to shift the late closing hour from Saturday to Thursday in line with a national trend. Beginning March 8 Lawton Stores will stay open until 9 p.m. each Thursday, after which participating merchants will not stay open past 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Logan Is Reported OK After Surgery
Oklahoma City state senator Bill Logan from Lawton underwent surgery at Wesley Hospital. Hospital officials said his condition is satisfactory. Logan, a 1954 gubernatorial candidate, has been at Wesley for several weeks with illness not disclosed. A hospital spokesman said the operation began at 8 30 a.m. and required several hours.
