Lawton Adopts Flood Hazard Prevention Regulations Chapter 27
Lawton Oklahoma adopts Chapter 27 of the City Codes to create a flood hazard prevention regulation. The ordinance adopts the 1976 Flood Insurance Study with maps, sets standards for development in flood fringe and floodway areas, establishes a special flood hazard permit, and details enforcement, appeals, and severability. Passed February 14, 1978 by Mayor Wayne Gilley and City Clerk Jean McGavic.

A new decomposable mulch paper for cultivation of vegetables, named Agroprox, has been developed in Sweden. It is a wax and asphalt impregnated paper that is fungicide-treated.
