Fort Sill traffic plan eyed for U S 277 upgrade
Fort Sill and Lawton officials met with state engineers to discuss a proposed 2.7 mile extension of U S 277 from Lawton toward Medicine Creek with two traffic interchanges and a total cost over two million dollars. The plan calls for a four lane divided highway built in sections, with land for right of way to be narrowed near Post Field and Polo Field.

Rape Plea Reduces Oklahoma Criminal Court Docket
Booker T. Gilbert, 39, Lawton, pleaded guilty to second degree rape and was sentenced to four years in prison. He faced a first degree rape charge for allegedly raping his 13 year old daughter witnessed by her 10 year old niece. Judge Landers accepted the plea, clearing space on a crowded docket and leaving 10 of 18 cases to go trial this week.
