President Eisenhower said he should have enough information by March 1 to decide whether to seek re election. He indicated a formal announcement would follow soon after if the data supports it, possibly in a nationwide TV and radio broadcast.
Chamber of Commerce directors meet this afternoon to discuss toll road status and potential financing. Charley Wade will meet Charlie Payne at 2 30 p m to review delays on the southwestern leg and prospects for tying three toll roads into one package. Governor Gary signaled a union of routes while traffic prospects for the northern road to Wichita appear gloomier than in 1954.
Oklahoma City dispatch notes former Gov. Johnston Murray wrote his wife Willie that Raymond Gary was a country hick in a May 16 1955 letter and Gary dismissed the remark. Other letters discuss politics, personal life, and Murray’s view of aides like Ralph Casey and Virgil Young as well as his claim he would not drink while facing a difficult divorce.
The U S Navy announced a missing Neptune P2V rescue plane on a Antarctica search had been found safe in a jungle clearing near Capute Venezuela. Seven crew members were unharmed as a helicopter from Trinidad retrieved them. Loss of power earlier forced a forced landing 70 miles southwest of Trinidad in the Orinoco Delta area.
President Eisenhower called Congress to boost annual U S immigration quotas by about 65 000 as part of a 14 point program to liberalize the McCarran Walter act He urged measures to bar depraved criminals from appealing deportation and proposed quotas distributed in line with post 1945 immigration. He argued for raising the ceiling from 154 657 to 220 000 while noting slim chances for approval this year and proposed a special 5 000 visa pool a year for aliens regardless of nationality and flexible reuse of unused quotas plus fingerprint waiver for temporary visitors.
East Germany's Volkskammer Presidium warned of a possible blockade on Western air traffic into West Berlin in protest over spy balloons. The statement claimed Allied planes fly through East German sovereign air territory, noting Berlin lies 110 miles inside East Germany. Western experts called it a first ibid assertion of air territory.

Fort Sill Cpl. Robert L. Squibb, 24, was struck by a northbound car on S 11th near Georgia at 6 24 am. He was taken to post hospital in critical condition with possible fractures and internal injuries. Driver Donald Lee Pittman, 16, said he traveled about 35 mph. skid marks measured 18 yards and the car stopped 95 yards away.
Lawton public schools announce the first semester average daily attendance rose by 575 from the 1955 figure. End of first semester attendance reached 9,009, up from 8,434 for 1954-55. Gilford Windle of the state education finance department is auditing the figures in the Board of Education offices. Attendance covers all city public schools.
S. S. Ferrell of Carnegie showed the grand champion Hereford bull FHR Dan Domino 26th at the 17th Southwest Oklahoma Cattlemen show at Comanche County Fairgrounds. The reserve champ was TH Zate Heir 19th owned by T. R. McCalla Jr. The sale begins at 1 p.m. with 52 purebred Herefords consigned. Judge Bill Mitchel hailed close judging and strong animal quality.
Milton Tomlinson secretary treasurer of Centra Leather Goods Corp Oklahoma says New York State Supreme Court ruling blocking move to Oklahoma will not affect the Frederick plant. He notes connections between the plants are limited and attributes the dispute to union propaganda. He mentions an existing but possibly non producing New York corporation. See PLANT, Page 2.
Overcast skies in Lawton today with noon indications of freezing drizzle tonight and unsettled conditions tomorrow. Oklahoma panhandle sees snow, rest of state damp from light rains and drizzle. Lawton highs around 46, lows near 28, with mid 30s tomorrow. A light storm passed overnight, with 0.29 inch rainfall reported near Lawton and 0.5 inch near Chattanooga.
About 400 Boy Scouts and Explorers in Lawton district will visit firms, military installations, and government offices Thursday for Citizenship Day. The event marks Lawton’s part in the 46th anniversary of Scouting in the United States with posts at Fort Sill Artillery and Guided Missile Center. District officials led by O B Lord outlined the plan as Scouting history and citizenship emphasis rise.
