Comanche County DA Office Faces Understaffing Budget Strain
Comanche County District Attorney Vernon Field says his office is understaffed and underfunded compared with Oklahoma County Tulsa County and Cleveland County. Last year Comanche filed 2 918 felonies and misdemeanors about 54 percent of Oklahoma County and 73 3 percent of Tulsa County totals. staff numbered four assistant DAs four secretaries and one legal intern. Budget figures show Comanche County at 84 112 02 dollars versus 423 897 22 Oklahoma County, 332 836 00 Tulsa County and 67 490 00 Cleveland County. Comanche’s budget is 19 9 percent of Oklahoma’s and 25 2 percent of Tulsa’s. Field notes he has requested another investigator, approved by county commissioners.
