Buffalo herd to return to Wichita Mountains Refuge pastures
Refuge officials report the Wichita Mountains herd has been reduced to 480 from nearly 1000 to protect forage and disease status. After roundup and health checks, the 600 head goal will be reached across Mt. Scott and Quanah Parker pastures with public access restored in coming months.
