Soviet Scientists Claim Success In Creating New Wheat Strains
Soviet researchers at the 5000 acre Scientific Research Institute near Kiev report success with a Lysenko linked transformation method to produce high yield winter wheat. Institute leaders claim Remeslo bred strains now supply a large share of USSR winter wheat and that Mironovka 808 and Ilychovka reach up to 178 bushels per acre in trials.
