Lawton saw about half an inch of rain yesterday afternoon into this morning with forecasts calling for more rain and cloudy skies through Thursday. Forecasters warned of colder air tonight with a low near 28 and a high around 33 tomorrow. Parts of the state could experience thunderstorms today into tonight.

Joseph E Napier 26 of Oklahoma City. and Chester Lee Mapp 21 of Oklahoma City. One hit and run fatality found on State 54 near Wewoka. An injured Ft Sill soldier, James Brumback 13, survived wreck. Authorities pursue investigations across Tulsa and Seminole counties.
Pilgrims from many countries filled Bethlehem churches to hear Saint Luke’s account of Christ’s birth. A procession carried a Christ image to the grotto under the Basilica of the Nativity as rain fell. The grotto, shared by Greek Orthodox Armenians and Roman Catholics, marks the site of Jesus birth and will be shown until January 6.
The National Safety Council warns drivers to consider others during the Christmas period as heavy traffic and mild weather push early holiday death totals. Twenty one Comanche county prisoners were served a Christmas chicken and dressing meal today in the courthouse. Six prisoners were released on bond and fines on Christmas Eve. A dozen prisoners remained in the city jail today. A noon Christmas meal was served to them.
A 26 year old Fort Sill specialist was killed when pinned under a 1957 Ford that went into a creek west of Lawton on US 62. Sg Joseph E Napier of Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment US Army was trapped and died. Brumback, 19, also of Fort Sill, was injured and held for observation at an Army hospital. Autopsy to determine death cause.
