Washingtons free Christmas sights draw tourists and residents
In Washington the holiday season offers a wide range of free events. The national Christmas tree on the Ellipse lights up with nightly performances, and there are candlelight White House tours, Mondale’s decorated 14 foot tree, free music at the National Visitor Center, Smithsonian exhibitions, and the Kennedy Center holiday festival with many free shows. Other venues host Renaissance music, toy traditions, and Kwanzaa celebrations at the Museum of African Art with daily programs and shared fruit.

Nine Face Jury In Murder Trial
The state called nine witnesses on opening day of the first degree murder trial of Harold Dale Lawrence 50 of Loco charged with the Sept 7 shooting death of Ronald Pee Wee Rue in Loco Rue died about two and a half hours after being shot in the chest and head. Witnesses included lawmen from Stephens County and McCurry family members with the shooting scene in front of their home. Prosecution led by Melvin Singleterry and John Cooper. Defense by Jerome Sullivan Jr and Tom Ellis.
