Doctor reports heroin substitute abuse using Ritalin
A Los Angeles radiologist reports West Coast heroin users injecting crushed Ritalin for a cheap substitute. In a Radiological Society of North America presentation, 16 USC Medical Center patients aged 26 to 53 showed chest pain, organ damage, abscesses, and vascular injury from injections. some improved after stopping the drug but damage remained.
