Postal service ends cluster mailbox program in Lawton
McClure notes door to door routes stay same with no new additions. Since 1972 curb service exists only for new developments. As of January 1976 cluster boxes are no longer provided though service will manage boxes if residents pool and purchase one. About 30 cluster boxes exist in Lawton costing 300 to 500 dollars each and must be on private property meeting regulations. New development delivery requires 50 percent occupancy and proximity to existing service. New boxes must be 40 to 46 inches high and aligned with curb edge.
