Routine Mugging Changes Life For Gable Family
Frank A. Gable, 41, an aerospace engineer, was attacked during a mugging on December 9 1970 near Watts Los Angeles leading to a coma and brain damage. He spent months in hospitals and is now in a convalescent home in Downey with ongoing rehabilitation. His wife Joan supports the family with disability benefits and work as needed as their four children adjust to their father’s altered condition. Two 17-year-olds linked to similar assaults were taken into custody but no arrest has been made in Gable’s case.
