Ed Gartrell, 58, Lawton city councilman for ward three and former Comanche county sheriff, died Saturday at a local hospital after about two weeks of treatment. Born August 10, 1895, in Yukon, he moved to Lawton in 1901. Funeral services are Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Methodist Church with burial in Highland Cemetery.
