A one car crash on U S 277 near Porter Hill killed 11 year old Jimmie Don Leggett of Sterling who was a passenger. The 1949 Chevrolet rammed the Cache Creek bridge as it traveled east. The driver, 15 year old Joe Sims of Sterling, survived.
