Oklahoma Faces First New Faces In Congress In 30 Years
Retirement of Rep. Carl Albert after 26 years and Rep. John Jarman creates a must see race in Oklahoma. Six Democrats, three Republicans and four independents compete for the 3rd District, with Ward Albert's aide favored for the Democratic nomination. In the 5th District, Dunlap, Gilbert and Zahn lead the Democratic field while Beasley, Pate and Edwards vie for the GOP nomination. Independent candidates appear in both districts for the November ballot.
