Guards Quell Great Meadow Prison Revolt in 26 Minutes
Guards and state police used night sticks and guns to break up a Great Meadow Correctional Institute uprising in Comstock New York. Eighteen injured. one accidental shot wounded two troopers and a guard. Rebels, 174 strong, resisted after early supper curtailment. McHugh ordered end within minutes but rebels refused.
