FTC OKS Higher Natural Gas Rates for Southwest Midwest
The Federal Power Commission approves a new rate schedule raising wellhead prices for gas from the Permian Basin and other areas. Ceiling prices rise from 16.5 to 35 cents per 1 000 cubic feet for contracts after Oct 1 1968 and from 14.5 to 23 cents for earlier contracts. The ruling aims to ease pipeline curtailments and maintain service, though effects on consumer prices remain uncertain.
