City budget for 1955-56 prepared for Lawton totals 1 102 713 22 dollars, with 500 dollars restored after departmental requests were trimmed. Diversion Canal Plan Gets Okay
Comanche county officials and Lawton city leaders reached a cooperative agreement to build a diversion canal linking Squaw and Cache creeks southeast of Lawton to ease Squaw creek overflow. The plan includes a $30,000 bridge per Corps of Engineers guidance, with county funds from the highway fund and city support for canal maintenance. Patrol Shakeup Reassigns Capt. Holt In Oklahoma OHP
State Safety Commissioner Jim Lookabaugh announced major personnel changes in the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Capt. Norman Holt of the Lawton field will be reassigned to a lesser rank and replaced by Supervisor W. E. Shackleford overseeing Lawton Clinton and Enid districts. The reassignments aim to keep captains within legal limits while six captains and required lieutenants remain on staff. Jail Jammed In Busy Night Reveals City Jails Strain
