Wallace Keeps Door Open For Possible Bolt
Wallace kept the door open to bolt from the Democratic party in 1948 if it fails to become liberal. He criticized Truman era foreign policy during a visit to England and France, saying he hopes the party becomes liberal or else steps may be taken. He denounced Truman’s 400 million aid plan to Greece and Turkey as causing a run around the UN and warned of a two camp world danger in Europe.
