Curtailment of Indian education probable in cuts
Washington April 23 API acting commissioner William Zimmerman Jr warned that a 33 percent cut in Indian education faces possible enactment if Congress accepts House reductions. Proposed funding drops from 44.5 million to 33.1 million would force about 5,500 Indian children out of government schools, closing grade schools and some non-resident high schools in Oklahoma.
