Missing Grapevine Developer Found Murdered in Trinity River
The body of Carey G. Lavender, a Grapevine real estate developer missing since November 30, was found in the Trinity River. Autopsy showed he was shot three times with .22 caliber bullets. Sheriff Wylie Barnes and a deputy recovered the body after two fishermen spotted it. one fisherman snagged a rope tied to the waist. Lavender’s 1972 Lincoln was later found burned in a Dallas Love Field parking lot with blood traces in the trunk.
