Post Office Begins Restoring Normal Service
Postmaster General Summerfield announced 41 million dollars to restore service toward normal within 21 hours. Congress provided six million less than requested, requiring continued limits on downtown mail deliveries to two per day and window hours to 8. Deliveries to residences and box pickups resume with some services paused.
