Pioneer Citizen R W Watkins Dies at Home in Wakarusa
R W Watkins died November 24 1888 at his home the Wakarusa after a 15 day illness of malarial fever He was born November 27 1820 in Alabama came to Kansas in 1802 and resided here lifelong He was described as a principled industrious neighbor and honest man with no lawsuits He leaves a wife and four children and was buried in Clinton cemetery on November 25 The obituary praises his religion of deeds over creeds and notes his memory will endure
