Train Attack Kills Engineer Near Coolidge
A Kansas east bound train was attacked near Coolidge on Sept 29. An armed man shot the engineer Hilton Perkins, killing him instantly, and wounded a second worker. A robber was killed during a firefight as three to five assailants fled. The Dodge City posse arrested two suspects and Dodge City officials held an inquest while Milwaukee-bound Hilton’s body was sent home.
