Woodrell Discusses Influences From Ozarks to Writing life
Lawrence Public Library hosted Daniel Woodrell to discuss how his Ozarks upbringing shapes his novels. He traced family roots to 1838, cited mentor Alan Lichter at Kansas University, and described memory as the key driver of his abrupt tonal shifts. He spoke to about 150 attendees at Liberty Hall and teased how tribal outlooks and moonshine flavor his work.
