Past and Present Highlight Hall Quilt Collector
Hall from Smith Center lived in Leavenworth making dresses for officers' wives who lacked sewing skills. She wrote Romance of the Patchwork Quilt in America and From Hoopskirts to Nudity. In the 1920s she aimed to sew a quilt block of every known style, completing over 800 blocks donated to Kansas University’s Spencer Museum of Art. Community-focused portrayals educate and entertain about lesser-known figures.
